If you see a villager wearing something you don't approve of, you can speak to Isabelle and talk about a resident. Giving Gifts is one of the best ways to bond with your villagers. Additionally, villagers will buy custom-designed outfits that you make available in the Able Sister’s Tailor shop! If you give a villager a type of clothing that they can’t wear: such as helmets, pants, socks, or shoes, they’ll usually treat the item as furniture and display it in their home. Give them any of those clothing items, and you see they’ll try them on right away! They’ll also wear them randomly in the future. Villagers will accept any clothing gift you give them however, they can only wear certain items of clothing: shirts, dresses, hats, glasses.
The other is unlocked by playing through the Happy Home Paradise DLC. The random placement of these items may not always look very nice, but don't worry! There are two methods of removing items from a villager’s home: one is explained in a later section on this page. They’ll display any furniture you give them, this usually results in finding it placed randomly inside their home the next day you see them.
You can give them almost anything except for DIY recipes. You can give your villagers one gift every day.
